Great Reel for all day fishing Review by Fishing Guy
Overall Rating
I switched to this reel about 3 ½ years ago. Having broken my wrist a few times from racing mountain bikes I was finding it hard to be able to Bass fish for more than 5 hours without having to take breaks from my wrist getting sore. I read about the core and spent the money on one hoping for the best. Well that was over 3 years ago and I now own 8 of these reels. The only other reel I have is a Diawa Steez. Which is also a great reel and is just a tad lighter but with a much larger price tags. I plan on getting another 4 Core reels to complete my setup of casting reels. This reel is well worth the money for anyone that fishing longer than 5 hours in a day. (Posted on October 28, 2012)

Pleasantly surprised Review by Roger
Overall Rating
I decided to give the Core 100MG7 a try because of it's light weight. I've fished Shimano for a long time and I'm a big fan of their lineup: Calais, Calcuttas, Chronarchs, Curados, etc. I was a little hesitant about the Core at first because it has fewer bearings than the Chronarch(even though it's twice the price) and a slightly smaller spool than most of the other Shimano baitcasters. I'm sure Shimano did this to decrease weight. However, I found that the Core fishes and feels just as smooth as a Calais and it's MUCH lighter. It's strong enough to handle just about any fish and it holds more than enough line to launch most baits a country mile. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and I'm very happy with the purchase. (Posted on September 23, 2012)
