G. Loomis NRX Saltwater Fly Fishing Rod NRX 10810-4 Blue
SPECIFICATIONS: 4 Piece | Length: 9' | Line Weight: 10 | Power: Stiff | Taper: Fast | Handle: D | MPN: 11921-01
Without a doubt, the lightest, most powerful 10-weight we've ever made. It will cast big flies, handle big fish and give you the range needed to cover a lot of water, especially on windy days when a lot of fly anglers are thinking it's time to go home. Add in a super amount of lifting power and you've got a great rod for species like big permit, big dorados, cobia and even small pelagics. It's all about power and yet it's so light you won't believe it. If you're into insanely big fish on a fly rod and you want to test your mettle, this is your rod.

- Love the NRX 10 weight
I got the Loomis Green NRX thinking surely it must be prettier than "that ghastly robin egg blue rod". But I actually ended up trading it in for the blue because once I held the blue in my hands it is very handsomely built and the blue ferrules look great on a saltwater rod, much better in person than in the magazines.
I was originally leery about buying a saltwater rod with just a single up-locking nut but having spent weeks fishing the NRX, I can actually say that the NRX single nut actually stays in place better than the Sage Xi3 double lock. I brought several tarpon and jack to boat having forgotten to tighten the lock. When I finally after dozens of casts and 3 large fish went to tighten the lock, I found it still didn't budge, it was already tight.
The guides are truly massive and are extremely well built. Simply the best guides I've seen.
Then there's the feature the NRX is known for, its cast ability. Put simply, this dog-gone rod casts itself. It has plenty of tip flex for accurate close casts for surprise tarpon that appear out of nowhere 20 feet from the boat but it also has sufficient horsepower to consistently throw maximum distance with large flies into the wind.
I would recommend this rod to as not just a good saltwater rod but the best rod in all categories I have fished: best quality build, best quality materials, best close in and distance casting, and surprisingly to me, most attractive.
