G. Loomis Classic Popping Saltwater Casting Rods

Availability: In stock

G. Loomis Classic Saltwater Popping Casting Rods were originally designed to cast live bait for sea trout and redfish using a bobber. Soon anglers discovered these rods worked well for fishing soft plastics and small jigs for bonefish, small snook and other flats fish.

G. Loomis Classic Saltwater Popping Casting Rods have softer tips that allow the bait to land quietly on the longest casts. They come in several lengths for fishing applications such as spoons, bucktails or surface lures. Very lightweight, these are surprisingly powerful rods that can handle large fish such as small tarpon or oversized snook.

G. Loomis Popping Fishing Rod PR844C GL3

Length: 7' | Line: 8lb - 17lb | Lure: 1/4oz. - 5/8oz. | Power: Medium | Action: Fast | Handle: B | MPN: 10178-01

G. Loomis Popping Fishing Rod PR844C GL3 is a slightly more powerful casting rod designed for fishing the flats, the PR844 is a good choice for a number of different species, including snook, specks, snapper and even small tarpon. Works well with the live bait, but casts spoons, soft plastics and jigs equally well. It is a fast-action rod, but leans towards moderate a bit, which is helpful when fighting big fish. It has sufficient power to handle large permit or jacks out in the gulf, but it's better suited for shallow water. GL3 offers a good blend of sensitivity and light weight.

A Fine Inshore Rod
I use both the 844c and 845c rods for inshore species - trout, redfish, flounder, etc.

These rods are perfect for my type of fishing with plastics, topwaters, bait, and most everything else. Lightweight and sensitivity can't be beat. The construction is excellent.

The action is flexible enough for the soft mouth of trout, but also has enough backbone for handling large fish. I have caught redfish and black drum up to 35 pounds with these rods.

Highly recommended for this type of fishing. And kudos to American Legacy Fishing for outstanding service.
