G. Loomis Classic Spin Jig Fishing Rod SJR721 GLX was designed specifically to fish light jigs, grubs and minnow-type hard baits. It is perfectly balanced for eight-pound line and -ounce lures, but is versatile enough to go up or down a line-size and still perform exceptionally well. If you fish small surface lures on spinning gear, this is a good choice. It is extremely light and sensitive thanks to our GLX technology. It has a soft tip to cast light baits, yet enough power to handle oversize surprises. Walleye anglers will appreciate this rod for fishing small lead heads tipped with a crawler or leech and it can also handle shallow to medium depth crankbaits. It works well for vertical jigging or small spinnerbaits that are too light a baitcasting outfit.

Beautiful rod
I recently got this rod it came well packed and it feels very nice in my hand I also have a st Croix legend elite in a med light fast action and the GLX rod is almost just as strong in the light rating and it is stiffer at the tip with less flex.

I got this rod for pickerel and bass fishing I did not get to go out and test it yet as here in NJ the ponds are all frozen!!

I can tell though it's a top notch quality rod I can't wait for the Ice to melt so I can hook up with some pickerel beauties with it!!

The Pickerel Hunter... Liked this rod so much I also purchased a 5ft IMX pan fish rod!

Powerful Amazingly Sensitive and Versatile.
I have used this rod over 60 hours in the last month.

I purchased it mainly for Smallmouth Bass.
I do a lot of fishing from shore in waders, this little rod lets me get trough the trees.
This rod is is nice in tight spots close to shore, good though the weeds, and structure.
It really is sensitive I have landed fish a small as 2 inches and up to about 20.
I have also used it from the boat and it performs well in open water as well.
I fish the NYC reservoir system... upstate with this rod Smallmouth, Largemouth, Yellow and White Perch Crappie, Rock bass, Bluegill.
It handles a #2 and 3 Mepps Aguila Spinner very well, Kastmeisters' , 1/4 oz jigs and plastics all well.
I have been using 8# mono, I tried 6 it was ok 8 is better.
2000 size reel, I tried using a 1000 with Power Pro but i scared myself so I went back to mono.
An amazing rod the short grip makes it easy to cast one handed.
All the components and construction is second to none and the company offers great support.
I have really been missing very few fish, And This is my first season fishing for Smallmouth.
You will land more fish! I know I have.
Buy One!
