G. Loomis Crankbait Deep Dive Casting Rods
For years, a number of manufacturers have pushed fiberglass rods for crankbaits, claiming graphite rods are too stiff and react too fast, not allowing the fish to inhale the lure. That's true because fiberglass is softer and much slower reacting, making fiberglass a good choice for crankbaits. But its yesterday's thinking!
G. Loomis Crankbait Casting Rods use the dynamic features of graphite (sensitivity, extreme light weight, faster recovery, etc.) to make a fantastic, responsive crankbait rod. G. Loomis Crankbait Casting Rods have a soft, more moderate action that's soft enough to let the lures work properly and allow the fish to inhale the bait. Yet these rods are very light, responsive and sensitive. And powerful. Every rod is Made in the USA. Limited Lifetime Warranty.

- Too much handle, too weak.
I'm generally a Loomis fan but I feel they got this one wrong. The rod is long, in every aspect. Gone are the days when Loomis crankbait rods had comaritively short handles. The handle on this is 20" total. I imagine this is some stock length for an 8' rod meant to balance better and provide leverage for the longer length but it does become cumbersome.
To me, the rod is not stiff enough for true deep divers like a 6xd, dd22, and so forth. Combine the extra length with that feature and you have a rod that throws very well but is limited in application. As an example, it won't rip 1/4oz traps out of grass, it will throw them though.
The 1/2-2 1/2 rating on this rod is not even close. It is similar to other 5 power loomis crankbait rods but lacking what backbone they had in the short lengths.
This rod would be great for dt10, 5xd, and other 10-12 foot open water ledge applications. But a true dd rod it is not.
