It's all hype until you fish it and determine for yourself.
I needed to upgrade my jig rod and went with the G Loomis just to see what all the fuss was about. After unpacking it, my first impressions were generally positive but it really wasn't until I fished it that I understood. My first bass on this rod was a small male, maybe 13 inches, but I quickly realized that I could feel the bottom and eventually the bite, so much better than on my other bass gear. The 2nd bass of the day "sealed the deal" for me. I made a bad cast but got bit on the drop, by a 23 inch, 7 pounder that immediately headed for deeper water. This rod, the G Loomis 894C, allowed me to control that big gal far better than any rod on which I had previously fought a big fish. After I successfully landed her, I realized there had never been any doubt in my mind that I would actually land the fish, in spite of her fierce attempts to dislodge my jig and the thick cover of hyacinth where she had been hiding out. While I understood that I could loose her at any time during the fight, it sure felt like a solid hookup. The sensitivity, backbone, and the ability to control the fish, that this rod provided me translated into more confidence and a vastly more fun fishing day. Although this was my first G Loomis rod purchase, I'm fairly certain it won't be my last.
