G. Loomis Popping Fishing Rod PR845C GL2 Neptune was designed to offer flats fishermen a little more power for larger flats fish like redfish and permit, but has fast become the rod of choice for striper fishermen throwing crankbaits. It isn' t an overpowering rod, but it has more than enough strength to handle fish up to 15 or 20 pounds in relatively heavy current and even larger fish in lakes or other stillwater applications. Gl2 is our most durable graphite material. It's a good, lightweight alternative with excellent sensitivity, power and performance.

Excellent
Always wanted a good Popping Rod and the G Loomis GL2 , Medium Heavy, Moderate-Fast Action PR 845C fills the bill. First time out with the rod married to a Daiwa Tatula HD200HSL, I was "walking the dog" with a Mirrolure Top Dog Jr and got into a bunch of keeper spotted sea trout and a couple of redfish. The rod loaded well when casting, and in combination with the reel, I was able to greatly extend the distance of my casts. The action the rod imparted on the lure during the retrieves was excellent, and IMO especially good for use from a kayak, and allowed me to work the lure properly at night (with limited visibility) just by feel. The power of the rod was substantial and the moderate fast taper allowed me to use the rod to enjoyably fight the fish back to my kayak.
