- Amazing little device!
Works great on my Moto G4 that it is optimized for. I have a rugged case, and while it fit, I wasn't sure if the plug fully seated so I modified my case a bit to make sure it was. I've also got an old 10" cheap chinese tablet that it also works great on using an otg cable and a standard usb male to micro usb female adapter. And that is something else, because it will NOT work if your android device isn't otg enabled. Now I did notice a glitch in the software when I tried to register, as I kept getting a failed error message, but when I went to thermal.com to complain, it appeared that I was registered in spite of the error message on my devices. Now beyond that, both the SeekXR and software are kind of amazing. Now I've heard people complain in reviews that the XR's narrower field of view makes it unsuited for in home use because you have to back off 10 or 20 feet. With all due respect that is a big steaming load of BS! I've measured the temperature of the venting hose of my portable AC unit from 4 feet away, and if you want a better view, or ain't seeing everything you want to see, then yes you can back up, or you can just pan the imager to where you want to look. I can also see how this would also be a good tool for monitoring your pets health as it is very sensitive and I can tell what the exact temperture of my dogs nose or eyes at a glance. I've found the Hi/Low feature to be especially good for this. When you get this little jewel, you might be surprised at how tiny it is, and I'm extra careful with my clumsy fingers when handling it. And I only handle it when removing it from it's waterproof case to attach it to my Moto G4 or 10" tablet, and as soon as I'm done looking at whatever I was using it to look at it goes right back in it's waterproof case. Now that case is very solid and well made and locks very securely with no play between the case and imager, so it doesn't rattle in it's case. Now the case also has a place to attach a lanyard, and that may be ok, but, I prefer to err on the side of caution and keep it in a gps case that I can carry either using a strap or attach it directly to my belt.
