  1. G. Loomis NRX 1567/8-4 Spey Fly Rod Green

    G. Loomis NRX 1567/8-4 Spey Fly Rod Green This positive action 13', #7/8 (480 grain Scandi- 520 grain Skagit head), loves to push long casts using integrated short-head floating lines such as Windcutter II, Delta Short,or SA Spey Evolution. It really shines using Scandi and Skagit (short/compact length head) and monofilament running line. It will manage all but the most heavily weighted winter patterns, with plenty of backbone to pop a cast through rain and wind. It is ideal rod for NW steelhead, and smaller Atlantic salmon applications. A light rod for all seasons.

  2. G. Loomis NRX 1686/7-4 Spey Fly Rod Green

    G. Loomis NRX 1686/7-4 Spey Fly Rod Green Dry flies for steelhead at long range? Long leaders and little bombers for Atlantics? Looking for the big rod that does not overwhelm smaller fish, but has what it takes to deliver major casts, this 14' 6/7 is what you have been searching for. It is especially sweet casting mid-belly or long belly lines rated 6/7. For Scandi casting we'd recommend 28 grams/450grains head weight. 3. G. Loomis NRX Scandi Two-Hand Fly Rod

    Starting at: $1,130.00

In the world of flyfishing for salmon, steelhead and to some degree trout, there are two styles of fly rods. Our NativeRun salmon & steelhead fly rods, as well as all of our trout fly rods are considered single-hand rods. As the name implies, they are meant to be cast with one hand. The casting hand manipulates the rod while the off hand controls the line and makes the connection between the rod, the reel and the angler complete. Single-hand salmon and steelhead fly rods range from 9- to 10-feet, with the majority in the 9.5- to 10-foot range. These rods are designed to fish riffles and runs where there's sufficient room for backcasts and you can cover the area without a lot of interference. When the shoreline backdrop is brush or trees, anglers resort to roll casting which requires very little space for a backcast, but it limits your casting range. As long as the current isn't divided into too many channels, or too wide, a single-hand rod will allow you to mend line sufficiently to fish this water effectively. It's when the area behind you doesn't provide enough room for a backcast and the fish are out of reach for roll casting or the holding water is separated from the angler by multiple current speeds that you must turn to a two-hand rod. It's what NRX, NRX Scandi, Greased Line GLX, Dredger GLX, Stinger GLX and VersaSpey are all about. Spey casting is not only a beautiful thing to watch, but intensely satisfying to do. It's not a new style of fishing, but more a revival of a traditional technique made popular over a century ago on Scotland's Spey River. There's a definitive advantage to spey casting, especially on big rivers. Your ability to manage a long line, both in the air and on the water is directly proportional to your success. The long rod is a huge advantage. Imagine - you're up to your waste in the river, the fish are holding in small slot on the other side of some soft water where there's minimal current and it's giving you fits. Now imagine a 14-foot rod that will allow you to not only reach the spot, but make a long-distance mend, giving you that perfect swing... bingo!! Two-hand fly rods can make a tough day on the water successful as well as enjoyable. It's a boon to fly fishers all over the world and thanks to G.Loomis' technology, these oversized fly rods are not only more efficient, they're light as a feather... advantage angler!

  4. G. Loomis Two Hand Fly Fishing Rod NRX 1568/9-4 Green

    G. Loomis NRX Two Hand Fly Fishing Rod NRX 1568/9-4 Green is a smooth, powerful casting 13-footer rated for an 8/9 Scandi head. At 500 grains, it loads perfectly and makes tight narrow loops using the "under hand" cast. At 550 grains with the Skagit method, it will manage all the necessary tips - full sinking, intermediate or floating. We dual rate them in both grams and grains for our worldwide market. While it casts short Scandi-style heads exceptionally well, it's more than capable of handling a wide variety of casting strokes given the proper lines. A wonderful choice for medium to large rivers, it is capable of casting big, weighted flies if necessary to get down in those deep pockets where salmon and steelhead rest on their migratory journey. With NRX, you have unbelievable power and line control in a rod so light it's hard to believe.

  5. G. Loomis NRX Two Hand Fly Fishing Rod NRX 1689/10-4 Green

    G. Loomis NRX Two Hand Fly Fishing Rod NRX 1689/10-4 Green As two-handers get longer, it's a given casting distance increases. The beauty of this great all-around 14-foot 9/10 is the NRX dynamics - insanely light, extraordinary power - so much so it feels like a rod much shorter. It's totally capable of handling heavier heads and is sneaky quick - a bonus when you want to turn over big, weighted flies. Big winter steelhead won't go far to chase down a fly – to put it right in their face, accuracy and line control is everything. Anglers swinging big tube flies on swift Nordic rivers will appreciate the power. Again we dual rate them in both grams and grains for our worldwide market.
